The Einhell Group is converting the quality inspections at its locations in China to the “Reportheld” mobile field service app. The global corporation is thus reacting to the requirements of global trade. Standardized test routines and the greatest possible technical flexibility now characterize the Einhell central transshipment point
As one of the world’s leading providers of tools and machines as well as garden and water technology, the Einhell Group is active in more than 40 countries. The main production facilities are in China. From here, Einhell ships around 6,000 containers annually to the group’s global locations. All orders differ from one another and are therefore also subject to individual quality controls.
So far, the company has met these challenges with traditional paper-based inspection and checklists – each individually compiled and printed for each of the 45 quality inspectors. After the inspections, the collected data had to be entered into the ERP system and photos uploaded.

With the switch to Reportheld, Einhell is pursuing two main goals: saving time and more precise documentation. Both will be achieved because the results of the inspections will in future be available in real time at the company headquarters for processing and evaluation. In addition, the results of several testers can be combined seamlessly with the Smart Mobile Collaboration® solution.
For the global player with a wide variety of locations, the online and offline flexibility of the app also plays a decisive role:
“When the inspectors are on site at the producers, it is important that they can work offline with Reportheld in case of doubt and that the results are automatically synchronized with our Navision system as soon as they are online again,” explains Uwe Hekler, IT Manager at Einhell in China.

Thanks to Reportheld at Einhell in China, quality controls have been digitized since autumn 2017. “What is special about this project is the specificity of the so-called ‘Inspection Instructions’, which contain tailor-made inspection instructions for each shipment,” explains Tobias Hertkorn, Managing Director at groupXS.
For the digitization of the logistics processes, Reportheld relies on the existing ERP system at Einhell: Thanks to an interface, the inspection instructions can be prepared with Microsoft Navision as before. These contain the relevant information for each order: Which individual parts does the shipment consist of? Which quality controls should be carried out? To what extent do the auditors have to take samples? There are also sample images that illustrate good and faulty conditions. All information is transmitted to Reportheld via API (Application Programming Interface) and made available to each inspector on his mobile device – optionally in German, English or Chinese.
Reportheld then guides the inspectors through all the test steps and ensures that the required data is collected in full. The test results are recorded on site, including photos and barcodes, directly in the mobile app and synchronized with the ERP in real time via the cloud connection.
